Taking children abroad – What happens when parents disagree?

Duane Morris attorneys Joakim Soederbaum and Ramsey Schultz will discuss issues that arise when the parents disagree to what country a child may travel or in what country a child may stay, including the framework established under the Hague Convention for the prompt return of children who have been taken across borders without consent.

They will also apply that framework to a real-life example: Since 2023, as part of Duane Morris’s extensive pro bono program, Joakim and Ramsey have represented a Venezuelan mother in her efforts to keep her young daughter in the United States, whom she brought here after the father moved to Spain.
