"Beyond the Visible: Hilma af Klint" Documentary, Museum of Fine Arts, Houston

Immerse yourself in the work of trailblazing abstract painter Hilma af Klint. Hilma af Klint belonged to a group called “The Five”, a circle of women who shared her belief in the importance of trying to make contact with what she called the “High Masters”—often by way of séances. Her paintings were abstract and geometric. These paintings were not appreciated by her audience. She therefore packed away approx.1200 paintings which she hid away to be opened 20 years after her death.    In her will, Hilma af Klint left all her abstract paintings to her nephew, Erik af Klint. When the boxes were opened at the end of the 1960s, very few persons had knowledge of what would be revealed. Her art work has since been exhibited both in Europe and in the US.
